In 2014, travel guidebook Frommer’s named Richmond as one of the Top Destinations in the world. In their words, “Richmond is coming into its own as a choice regional destination with a growing slate of breweries, farm-to-table restaurants, and even white-water river rapid activities cutting right through downtown.” It is exhilarating to have our city receive this well-deserved international praise.
The impact that this attention is having on Richmond’s real estate market is palpable. CNN Money included Richmond on their list of “10 Hottest Housing Markets for 2014.” The healthy mix of government, financial, manufacturing, and education jobs that sustain the Richmond economy have contributed to a slow decline in unemployment rate over the past 3 years, thus home prices have steadily increased over the past 4 years.
